A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a tax-exempt account created for purpose of paying or reimbursing qualified medical expenses for you, your spouse and your dependents. Contributions to an HSA are tax deductible, the earnings grow tax deferred and distributions to pay or reimburse qualified medical expenses are tax free.

Qualified account holders must be covered under a high-deductible insurance plan and not covered by any other health plan, not enrolled in Medicare and cannot be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return. Tax-exempt contributions to an HSA are deducted by your employer.

Clay County Savings Bank offers HSA accounts for individuals and employers. For more information, contact us at (816) 781-4500.
